The Egyptian leadership has informed Palestinian factions that the third round of national dialog sessions would be postponed to 1st of April after conclusion of the Arab summit slated for march 30-31 in Doha, media sources reported. They told the PIC reporter that the postponement was meant to give the Palestinian factions more time to overcome the three points of disagreement represented in the unity government's political program, commitment to the previous PLO agreements and the electoral system.
The sources asserted that the delay also gave more time for the factions to consult with their political leaderships.
The factions had reached agreement over a number of issues topped by the formation of a transitional unity government the mission of which would end when the general elections are held in addition to another agreement on security apparatuses and a conciliation charter that prohibited infighting.
Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that Fatah MP Azzam Al-Ahmed's pessimistic statement on the national dialog was a deliberate attempt to evade the dialog agreements.
He said in a press release that Al-Ahmed's statement also displayed Fatah's adherence to whatever the American administration dictates on it especially after former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's imposition of pre-conditions on the dialog in acquiescence to American conditions.
The spokesman asked Fatah to control its media, to stop all forms of unjustified incitement, to shoulder its responsibility towards results of the dialog and not to listen to foreign dictates.
